Kind of surprising to me -P1 takes a hit, but B.1.351 is bad. Does it suggest that the B.1.351 NTD mutations D80A[DorA?). D215G (DouG, Jr?),R246I (RidhI?) may be more problematic than EriK????

In context

A single line often inverts meaning once you see what it answers, so neighbouring messages are always shown.

Agreed. There's a few that I can also release.

Very interesting figure! [shared file(s): EuNejqhXcAUjMGC.jpeg]

What's wild - two doses of Pfizer leads to greater neutralization against SARS-CoV than B.1.351 according to this figure. That's wild.\

And IMO - highly suggestive of lower overall antigenicity of B.1.351 - i.e., a more general mechanism of (Ab-mediated) immune evasion.

Yeah, I was really surprised by that difference as well - I thought they'd be about equal. Need to see the preprint itself so we can see the actual mutations

And B.1.351 is just dead dead - it's pretty scary.

Note that all of those mutations D80A [DorA?). D215G (DouG, Jr?),R246I (RidhI?) remove a charge (aspartic acid orarginine) - if you scroll back to initial discussions of Doug you'll see references that similar D mutations havecharacterized flu mutations in the past.

Yes, this is coming along nicely. Great work Bob. Let's try and get this sent this week if we can. It's coming along nicely.
