Hmmmm that IS weird. Presumably though, if these reads are real surely they must be contamination from other sequencing experiments at WIV.

Extracted statements

Rule-extracted, not adjudicated. The grade says what may be done with each one; read the document above before relying on any of them.

Eddie Holmes is no longer my friend on Twitter :crying_cat_face: - Eddie, I take this as my queue to shut up... :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:. In better news - we can only hope... Pretty interesting genomic report from New Zealand (confidential for now, I assume) that looks well-reasoned: https://nextstrain.org/community/narratives/ESR-NZ/GenomicsNarrativeSARSCoV2/2020-10-01

This looks weird: https://osf.io/s4td6/ There was a simultaneous outbreak of the zoonotic Nipah henipavirus in Wuhan - 4 out of 5 patients have the virus in Jinyintan Hospital , along with SARS-Cov2, in their metagenome - which seems to have resolved by itself *AUTHORS* Sandeep Chakraborty

E.g., I know people found plenty of evidence of Lassa in GTEx individuals from the Broad... Obviously there was nooutbreak of Lassa in Boston - just the Broad doing its thing.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure these are contaminants - you can see the reads via the raw SRA: https://trace.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/Traces/sra/?run=SRR11092059 https://trace.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/Traces/sra/?run=SRR11092060 https://trace.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/Traces/sra/?run=SRR11092061 https://trace.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/Traces/sra/?run=SRR11092062 Many other viruses in there too
