Although interestingly the D3L mutation in N in B.1.1.7 is a complete codon change GAT->CTA

In context

A single line often inverts meaning once you see what it answers, so neighbouring messages are always shown.

AndreW mutations would be among the rarest of all. You might ask why. Except for Methionine [it's special too] Tryptophan is the only aa with a single codon: UGG. For AndreW - You need to change the first two bases of an Alanine codon GCU, GCC, GCA, or GCG and generally all three. But, you really need to want to put in the tryptophan codon UGG because close relatives UAG and UGA are stop codons. Stop codons in viral proteins are bad. If that region mutates "slightly" it's a stop and a dead virus. That's what makes this sequence: WPWYIW which happens to be prior to the SC2 TM domain special too.

As @Kristian Andersen said - this virus is weird

    Fascinating - I dunno, but short copy-choice error events - 3, 6, 9, 12 bases at a time?
