Honestly though, fuck Alina and her privacy invasion - good grief. Scientists need to be able to communicate in private without fear of some asshole coming back later and pointing out shit with perfect hindsight. @Kristian Andersen pointed me to this general area above. Turns out - yeah Delta - Lessons learned - who knew that yes we totally should have been freaking out! [shared file(s): image.png]

I still maintain that everything we said there was true - based on available evidence at the time, there was no reasonto freak out. Just look at the recent headlines from Newsweek on mutations...
-
Agreed - my point exactly - all perfectly true and reasonable!

But, idiots like 4$ would have a field day.

Yup.

Delta is not the double mutant. It doesn't have E484Q

It does make my blood boil that Alina - who has legitiised hate and attacks on scientists - is featured as a victim inthat Nature piece. No doubt she will milk this on Twitter. She has done more than anyone to create a narrative that ifyou a believe in a natural origin you are part of a conspiracy.
-
I'll be emailing Nature as soon as this comes out to point that out - they have been asking us to fill out the questionary multiple times, but I never did. But not to realize that Alina is one of the ring leaders in _exactly what the article is about_ is pretty astonishing.

I guess Richard maybe only emailed Bob and myself... [shared file(s): Screen Shot 2021-10-12 at 14.47.41.png]
