Daszak even says that the conspiracy theorists won't be happy....I agree, but by calling them 'conspiracy theorists'he automatically undermines his claim to be going into the investigation with an 'open mind'.

We had our kick-off meeting with this new NIH CREID network today, which Peter is part of. I couldn't help but reference our 2018 Nature commentary right after his talk... He spend a lot of time saying how we'll "predict and prevent the next pandemic", I basically said "let's get real". He's so full of himself.

There was a story about the GVP in The Guardian as well: https://www.theguardian.com/global-development/2020/ sep/16/how-to-predict-a-pandemic-worlds-most-dangerous-viruses?CMP=share_btn_tw

"*'Why wait for it?' How to predict a pandemic"* Sounds so simple...

They don't say 'how' at all: "It has accurately predicted where the last three outbreaks would emerge, though not their timing". Err, not a prediction then.
