    You can't do those plots independently for each country. The increase of G in Australia simply relfects the increasing number of imports with this mutation.

    @Eddie Holmes Exactly - that is the whole problem with using counts of genomes. We have estimated the growth rate for 50-odd independent introductions into the UK. But it isn't a clean result.

    @Eddie Holmes Yeah, Richard and I brought it up at the conference today, but I'm not quite sure they fully understood what the problem was... I kept saying "your analysis assumes growth from one introduction within the country only - the issue is that you have multiple introductions and you have many more G coming in later"... This can only be done on a tree - there's just no way around it.
