"A total of 23 different bat species were tested in this study (Table S1). Samples were 619 collected between May2019 and November 2020 from Mengla County, Yunnan Province in southern China (101.271563 E, 21.918897 N;101.220091 E, 21.593202 621 N and 101.297471 E, 21.920934 N). The Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden has an ethics committee that provided permission for trapping and bat surveys within 623 this study." @Eddie Holmes do you happen to have Table S1 from Zhou2021? OR a month and year when RpYN06 and RsYN06 were collected. Updating Holmes 2021 figs etc.

I'll email them all to you Bob - I'll just make a cup of tea...as long as turning on the kettle is not deemed too dangerous

Had a chat to Linfa and it seems he has more positive pangolins. He's going to run his VirScan-like assays on Tommy's. I think we have 7 positive animals. Of course, that bats may be passing the virus to pangolins does nearly show that virus jump between species in nature. Who would have thought!!

Thanks Eddie. I understand that bats etc live in Sri Lanka and other tea growing countries - so yes better to curtailthat overly risky activity going forward. Agreed the pango story is an interesting one on many levels - lots ofimportant CoV evolution and ecology to sort. That is unless the Parisites have their way and all this threateningvirology is stopped.

Also consistent with another conspiracy theory - all the world's leading virologists (and a few politicians) areshape-shifting space aliens from the future.

It's really the only way to explain QTQTNS and some of the other spike motifs in newly sequenced Bat CoVs.

Here's the updated Fig. 1 with the new bat viruses. Also noticed that a few of the new ones have a concentration ofS,T,P around the S1/S2 junction. Interestingly, several have several predicted O-linked glycans. So that's a featureof the site that is independent of the SC2 FCS itself. Also worth noting the O-linked glycans near the N terminus aswell. [shared file(s): image.png]

THANKS -yeah the serosurveys are VERY important. Koopmans was on NBC news last night for an interview and they were "grilling" her about the supposed flu-like cases that were at WIV in Fall 2019. She said they were antibody negative - a big nothing, but grist for Fox News and Pompeo.

And this: I do think Koopmans all by herself will make the Parisites look like the fools that they are. [shared file(s): image.png]
