I don't think getting Baltimore and Alice Huang to sign our letter is out of the question. Worth offering since DB may
want to correct the record and if he turns it down that's instructive. Back to the paper - since Jesse Bloom trained
with DB I think it's even money that DB was offered a spot on BS and turned that down.

As for the paper itself and other JB-DB papers on H1N1- seriously WTF - a blueprint for making drug-resistant
viruses and not a peep about DURC.

In addition to the Nobel prize virologists - I agree with @Eddie Holmes that getting EiC of virology journals is Very
Good idea. Richard Kuhn, PhD - Editor-in-Chief - Virology' Rozanne M. Sandri-Goldin JVI, Linfa Wang Virology
Journal (but there's the CoI thing) *Paul Duprex JGV.*

RaTG15 Spike 658 ditkarTSStpa 669 S1/S2 junction. So yes the capitalized TSS - all predicted O-glycans. [shared

It's like RsYN04. The sequence in RsYN04 is one amino acid shorter at the indel, but aligns: ttkarTSStpa - also with
the predicted O-linked glycans. [shared file(s): image.png]

Very interesting - clearly a lot of stuff going on around that site, which isn't too surprising given its importance.

Putting RaTG15 plus some of the other new viruses into the Holmes2021 alignment. Some of these could potentially
be in the Evidence Doc. RpYN06 (@Eddie Holmes new _Cell_ paper) and PCR31 lay to rest Alina's slander that GD
pangolin is fake. See similarity in indels 1,2,3 and 5. Also probably makes sense to update the virological post.

For the virus glycoprotein nerdboys note that RaTG15 and RsYN04 have CXK insert at indel 4a. Both viruses have
an added cysteine 5 or 4 amino acids towards the N-term. So, these viruses either have an extra tight cysteine loop
in the N-terminal domain or as discussed in channel above have a metal binding domain in the N-terminus. One of
@Kristian Andersen long covid patients has an added dicysteine in the N-terminus. Also W152C in B.1.427/429 is
an unpaired cysteine which is just not hanging in space so might work with H69, H146 and H245 to bind a metal ion.
Cryo EM guys/girls get busy.
