> I would never hang my hat on any of it. But I would send a letter to Science [2021-05-12 23:30:02] [Eddie Holmes] False equivalence is that the gamey tasting menu is full of bloody viruses (although we can't use this). Some of these animals were sick and sold. [2021-05-12 23:30:09] [Kristian Andersen] Andrew - any chance you can please write a point about the likelihood? Basically what you already have but in a few sentences? [2021-05-12 23:30:48] [Kristian Andersen] > False equivalence is that the gamey tasting menu is full of bloody viruses (although we can't use this). Some of these animals were sick and sold. I honestly don't understand we aren't all already dead - it's a fucking miracle. [2021-05-12 23:32:40] [Eddie Holmes] 5. Virus is adapted to spread in multiple hosts (e.g. mink). 6. Same RBD found in pangolins so it is in nature. [2021-05-12 23:33:46] [Kristian Andersen] "No evidence either way". Sure. Until you think about it. [2021-05-12 23:35:45] [Kristian Andersen] Alright, off to bed for me - I'll pick it up again tomorrow (unless somebody wants to answer before - I might waste too much time again... . [2021-05-12 23:37:01] [Eddie Holmes] Yes, get some rest [2021-05-13 04:10:58] [Robert Garry] Oh yeah - Relman is piece of work. Did not get power on until after 7pm last night - Internet back on after 1am. The trees - one oak about 2/3 meter in diameter - down and tin roof blown off in this video were 1 block from my house: https://www.wdsu.com/article/storm-damage-reported-in-new-orleans-wednesday-morning/36405138# [2021-05-13 04:27:22] [Robert Garry] "Oh, David got specific - let's crush their arguments..." Yeah the crushing will happen and the signers will regret piling on with Alina et al. [2021-05-13 04:36:35] [Robert Garry] Will have to respond to Relman at some level - you know - just to be courteous. The journos are all over this - so thta's another place to engage. I was working - off line as it were - on some "talking points." As @Kristian Andersen said "harsh.' or maybe not harsh enough to meet the level of nonsense. Borrowed liberally from channel: The letter in Science completely misrepresents the outcomes of the WHO report. The letter is half right: No data or other evidence (clear or otherwise) has emerged in support of the Lab Leak theory.
