A house burns down - some people die. Another house burns down and some more people die. The town builds a
fire department. Another house catches on fire. The fire department stops the fire, but not before several houses
burn. The firemen saved several other houses and perhaps several lives. The firemen are blamed for starting the
fire.

Hmmmm - good advice I guess: [shared file(s): image.png]

I guess these folks didn't take Statistics 101 - especially the chapter on that Tom dude. Or maybe they just flunked
out of primary school.

Here's an interesting factoid. All Weifeng's new bat viruses, as well as RmYN01 and RmYN02, were collected from
this location. Just shows the amazing amount of diversity of these viruses in nature and the sheer difficulty of finding
bat zero: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xishuangbanna_Tropical_Botanical_Garden

And these were not collected from caves, but from a botanical garden where lots of tourists go

Thanks Eddie - I really need to get out more often - looks like a beautiful place....

And the point being that bats and their viruses are everywhere - we can't stop exposure

As for the Paris group I think Kristian said it - let them put their "science" out in the sunlight. There it will die like other
conspiracy theories. Oh and there was a Nature podcast - a bit of Bullocks.
https://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-021-00599-7 Amy should have mentioned all the PO1 authors beside
Kristian and me, but other than that a good job. Heartwarmingly, it did cause Alina to throw her rattle out of the pram
again. Alina is really quite dishonest - twisting up a bunch of stuff that was said to fit her own priors. For ex: Amy
never said the Thai bat spike was the most similar to SC2 spike just that is is similar, which of course is true and a
point of Holmes2021.

Bob, coincidence you and I are implicated in both? I think not... :man_in_business_suit_levitating: [shared file(s):

Yeah - probably not a coincidence - pretty damn scary actually....
