[2021-02-23 13:58:58] [Robert Garry] Isn't OoP Eric Lander? [2021-02-23 13:59:41] [Kristian Andersen] Not a scam - legit email sender. Yeah, Lander is the scientific advisor. [2021-02-23 14:02:02] [Eddie Holmes] Tell him that Alina is a pain in the arse. I'm not all impressed with the behaviour of the Broad on this and a variety of other matters. [2021-02-23 14:03:34] [Robert Garry] She is evil and not helping the reputation of the Broad. [2021-02-23 14:19:13] [Robert Garry] The only lab release "theory" that is possible is if WIV or another lab actually had SC2 or a virus that is one or two steps away from SC2. If anyone had one of these 1. no reason to hide it before the outbreak.and 2. hiding SC2 or the preSC2 would require the greatest conspiracy EVER. The corollary to this is that in this case SC2 or preSC2 is a NATURAL virus. The Baker/Alina/Relman crap about stopping work on bat/animal CoVs cause someone could have brought it back to the lab also needs vetted somewhere other than the WSJ. [2021-02-23 14:44:27] [Robert Garry] The crap about stopping work on bat/animal CoVs is Alina's revenge for all the natural origins proponents that have called out her bullshit. Give the devil her due it's gotten some level of traction, esp with the whole GoF crowd weighing in. [2021-02-23 15:08:58] [Eddie Holmes] [thread - ID: 2021-02-23 15:08:58] Totally agree Bob. Someone said that our latest post was just covered in This Week in Virology. I'm not sure if I have the strength to listen. [2021-02-23 16:38:19] [Robert Garry] I'll "look." [2021-02-24 01:15:51] [Andrew Rambaut] @Eddie Holmes I just got the final FOI document to check over. An interesting read and comes across as a genuine investigation (as it was, of course) with no prior agenda. Interesting it drags in Jeremy as a key player. Also shows Collins had eyes on it (but only in retrospect). I can't see anything I personally should be concerned about (which is what UoS was asking about) so unless there is anything you want to draw my attention to, I will sign off on it. [2021-02-24 01:35:59] [Eddie Holmes] Thanks. Collins is a good point and I can see people picking up on that. One clause for non-release is that they 'expose people to serious harm or intimidation' and given that we are bound to get online abuse for this (even though the emails are innocuous) I think the Uni may opt not to release the emails because they have a duty of care over my mental health. Their call though. [2021-02-24 04:43:52]
