SALAZAR: To your knowledge, he didn't an EcoHealth employee or anything like that? DR. BARIC: You'd have to ask him those questions. I wouldn't know. MS. SALAZAR: Okay. And then what about Ian Lipkin? DR. BARIC: Yeah, another good friend from Columbia University. But what's the question? MS. SALAZAR: So my understanding is that he also worked out of the Wuhan CDC at times. DR. BARIC: Ian Lipkin, you'd have to look at his CV, but I believe he received a medal from China for his efforts in the original 2003 SARS coronavirus outbreak, helping them bring it under control. So he is also, not really a viral ecologist. He really does virus discovery, very interested in post-responses to viral infections. He's a global leader in really, I guess, the last 15 years, developing new technologies for rapid detection of unknown pathogens in the environment. MS. SALAZAR: Are you aware of him working out of the Wuhan CDC? DR. BARIC: He told me he'd worked extensively with people in China during the 20- -- I didn't ask him details
