Move to donate this to RSA to vaccinate their HCWs. RSA has been pleading with the USA to help them get vaccines since they are being ravaged by the B.1.351 variant. Phone call last night with David Kessler, Beth Cameron/Hilary Marston (NSC), me and Cliff Lane to figure out a mechanism to get this to them since it is only clinical trial grade. February 5, 2021 - Global USA - Had terrific conversation today with Bob Cousy. Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) had called me a couple of weeks ago saying that Bob Cousy would love to connect with me by phone, Joe is a good friend of Cousy's. I called Bob's cell phone and we spent 20 minutes chatting about all kinds of things. He has a great sense of humor. He is disturbed by the devisiveness in our society (similar to my concern). He spoke about his being 92 years old and that he body in "falling apart" despite the fact that he has "all my smarts". He is a rally charming guy. We developed a great rapport on the phone. Note that he came to my lecture at Holy Cross a few years ago and we had dinner together. Their data look fairly good for treatment of early disease to prevent hospitalization and PEP • Got call from Mike Osterholm trying to convince me to go with his concern/recommendation that we go with1st doses to as many people as possible given the fact that B.1.1.7 (UK) may become dominant in the USA and increase cases/hospitalization. This is a difficult problem sine we only have data for prime/boost with mRNA vaccines.
