It's pretty nuts though - but yeah, need to know the details to understand if this is real. I can believe it though [2021-07-29 07:12:27] [Kristian Andersen] How fun - Jim wants to talk to me. Apparently. [shared file(s): Letter to Andersen Re. COVID Origin final.pdf] [2021-07-29 07:30:59] [Andrew Rambaut] [thread - ID: 2021-07-29 07:30:59] Those three days are at the top of this slack channel! [2021-07-29 08:28:08] [Kristian Andersen] Correct - it's all really simple. I do appreciate they addressed the letter using my formal academic title, "Boss Man". Just so it's clear who's the boss here. [2021-07-29 08:30:45] [Andrew Rambaut] That is so cool. A keeper [2021-07-29 08:36:16] [Kristian Andersen] I'll frame it. Next to the frame with eDim insults. [2021-07-29 09:23:43] [Robert Garry] [thread - ID: 2021-07-29 07:30:59] @Andrew Rambaut Actually "fun" to read those early posts and this document - the first version of this which appears to have been Feb 1, but maybe a version history wouls be interesting to look at. Pretty intense actually ---- but I believe that the two factors that flipped the thinking were the mutational pattern in the RBD showing a likely natural pathway and the plethora of natural FCS and high variability at the S1/S2 junction. [shared file(s): image.png] [2021-07-29 09:40:14] [Kristian Andersen] [thread - ID: 2021-07-29 07:30:59] @Andrew Rambaut Yeah, I was looking through the version history recently - it's pretty interesting. We switched away from "engineering" quite a bit faster than I remembered - I think one of the main reasons being the comments from Ron, Marion, and Christian. And yes, a much closer look at all the available data. [2021-07-29 10:19:39] [Robert Garry] [thread - ID: 2021-07-29 07:30:59] @Andrew Rambaut IOWS - science. Also good to remember that we were all literally scrutinizing the sequence since @Eddie Holmes posted it. So not an over-nite conversion. [2021-07-29 10:58:36] [Andrew Rambaut] [thread - ID: 2021-07-29 07:30:59] @Andrew Rambaut When did RaTG13 and pango appear? [2021-07-29 13:00:15] [Robert Garry] [thread - ID: 2021-07-29 07:30:59]
