Reminds me of some of the steampunk art by Sharon Isern - she's done some work with @Kristian Andersen and
myself. [shared file(s): image.png]

Big storm in NOLA Last night - no power etc. Several levels of response to Worobey et al. possible. 1. Simple -
thanks for reaching out - look forward to an actual "dispassionate science-based discussion" of the issues. 2.
@Kristian Andersen more detailed but still direct response, which is excellent. 3. Simple + Addressing @Andrew
Rambaut salient point. "I think possibly pressing the idea that they are alleging a conspiracy and cover up. Obviously
they may have been but there is no evidence of one so they are essentially libelling people. If there was a
conspiracy and cover up then getting access to the lab won't help because there was a cover-up." Perhaps phrasing
it as a question: You do realize that you are accusing some of the best virologists on the planet of a massive
conspiracy and cover-up? 4. Some combo of the above or 5. No response - and yes they should be ashamed per
@Eddie Holmes.

@Kristian Andersen https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4797993/ This paper came up in the Rand
Paul-Toni Fauci debate yesterday. It's not GoF research, but yes they made cimeric viruses using a mouse-adapted
SC1.

Early draft that'll likely change - but lemme know suggested edits / ideas.
Dear Mike,
Thanks for the heads up - much appreciated. We are well aware of the upcoming letter and I was somewhat amused
to see that one of your signatories include a person who vehemently attacked me when I suggested we needed to
take a potential lab leak seriously back in February, 2020 - the reason why the _"Standing Committee on Emerging
Infectious Diseases and 21st Century Health Threats"_ that David and I sit on was established.
Unlike what is claimed in your letter, we have of course learned a lot since the beginning of the pandemic and no
evidence has been uncovered to support any connection to the lab - which remains a speculative theory that would
