The reality is of course that if we found evidence of lab origins or whatever we would be straight down to Nature/Science with it. But you would think Alina would know this. Another misunderstanding I have come to realise is that many lay-people believe that research grants are actually personal income for the scientists which is why we don't want to do anything that might jeopardise it.
