SALAZAR: No, with the postdoc and his student. DR. BARIC: Chuming, yes. Qibin, if he emailed me, I'm familiar with his name. MS. SALAZAR: Okay. Did you ever receive any of these viruses from -- DR. BARIC: No. No one in the United States had MERS 422. We synthetically resurrected it in my lab. MS. SALAZAR: And so who had it outside of the United States? DR. BARIC: I don't believe anyone had it. I would have to review the Chinese papers again that were published. The Chinese published a couple of papers on different MERS strains. I don't think they used 422, and I don't think they made molecular clones for either of them. MS. SALAZAR: Okay. And did you ever receive any biological samples by hand from any of Fang Li or Fang Li's postdocs? DR. BARIC: Fang Li sent me reagents in the mail. We had collaborative grants together, so certainly we collaborated and exchanged samples on occasion, yeah. MS. SALAZAR: Reagents of what?
