@Andrew Rambaut I agree on all these points - we need to stay on-point so it doesn't get too long. I think the first draft is great, because it has a TON of stuff in there - however, I also absolutely agree that most of itneeds to go, focusing just on the most important aspects and key components of "evidence for emergence". I'll let the two of you make the next few editing rounds and then I can pop back in. The document has the whole version history saved, so no harm in being aggressive with the editing - everything will be preserved if we need toget back to it. I'll go in and name the current version so we can go back to parts of it if necessary.

I'm just asking questions - not 100% convinced that Alina hasn't been secretly recruited by the Peter Thiel/Steve Bannon/Miles Guo axis - like Dr. Yan - to push Lab Leak. The fact she gave a talk essentially on the topic ofeugenics that Epstein (one of Theil's buddies) attended bumps up my prior on this a bit higher. Yuri - the head freezer - is all most certainly in the Thiel cabal.

Great TWiV episode Bob - really enjoyed that! And thanks for the nice words... :flushed:. One quick comment on the codons - the fact that they're commonly found in humans is actually _the_ argument Wade is making that these were human engineered.
