Dear Alan and Katrin,
I've put together a brief summary from the TBRUs. The attached document includes the 4 responses from the individual
TBRUs imbedded in the word files.
There's a summary of the TBRU awards, their grant numbers, and project expiration dates. There's also a high-level
summary of some metrics (# publications, # trainees, # funded spin-off grants). Page 2 has a summary of some of the
vaccine-related work being done by the TBRUs. Page 3 has a bulleted summary of work being done that can be
categorized into drugs and diagnostics. Page 4 describes some of the work being done to refine animal models.
Also attached is the one-page slide describing all 4 TBRUs.
ASTRa is the more vaccine relevant TBRU. Since Katrin will be in the room, I think you'll be well-covered.

Research Highlights: VACCINES

Development and Publication of a Novel Response Spectrum Assay (RSA). [ASTRa]
The 60-Mtb antigen "Response Spectrum Assay (RSA)" performed on whole blood has been developed by the
TBRU-ASTRa team and validated in Emory Vaccine Center laboratories. Assay development and optimization of
the a 7-day diluted whole blood assay to measure antigen-specific T cell responses was of this novel assay was
recently published in The Journal of Immunology (J Immunol 2018; 200(8):3008-3019) with Cheryl Day (co-PD of
Project 1) as the senior author. Interim data analysis from a cohort of patients with latent TB infection (LTBI)
that accepted treatment at the DeKalb County Board of Health were presented at NIAID at the TBRU-Network
