That's true.

In context

A single line often inverts meaning once you see what it answers, so neighbouring messages are always shown.

Yeah. I think you have to think about where the focus of the research community was. My focuses, at the time, were to rapidly develop mouse models so that we could test mRNA-LNP-based vaccines against SARS-2, to work with Gilead to get their drug forward into clinical trials, to get molnupiravir, a second drug that was FDA approved for use in humans, into clinical trials. But, you know, part of the conversation --
  3. 2026-04-10 09:00 Ralph S. Baric open
Yeah, hindsight is always 20/20 in this case. So you can look at a document and say why can't I remember.
  4. 2026-04-10 09:00 Christina Salazar open
No. I mean, I think part of the conversation, though, for a long time, was, I mean, the debate over whether it was a natural original, a lab leak, you know, accidental or not. I mean, this was a conversation that was happening in the public. There were multiple papers authored. We had Proximal Origins. People were shamed and called conspiracy theorists. I mean, is that not true?
  5. 2026-04-10 09:00 Ralph S. Baric
    That's true.
  6. 2026-04-10 09:00 Christina Salazar open
I mean, my understanding is you received threats. You know, like it's not like no one was talking about this. And, you know, even if you may not have remembered it, how many people were on that grant? Amy Sims, so she never said, "Oh, remember that grant that we were on?"
  7. 2026-04-10 09:00 Ralph S. Baric open
Amy Sims left the lab right before the pandemic started.
  8. 2026-04-10 09:00 Christina Salazar open
Have you ever spoken to her since?
  9. 2026-04-10 09:00 Ralph S. Baric open
    Off and on, yeah.
