Another white-tailed deer paper will be out on bioRxiv soon.

Same thing? I wonder what other animals carry this thing and whether there are spill backs into humans...
  3. 2021-08-16 14:33 Edward C. Holmes open PDF p.989
    More detail in this one.
  4. 2021-08-16 14:33 Andrew Rambaut open PDF p.989
    Crazy stuff.
  5. 2021-08-16 14:34 Andrew Rambaut open PDF p.989
Susceptible animals seem to be scatter bombed across the mammalian tree
  6. 2021-08-16 14:34 Edward C. Holmes open PDF p.989
    Yes, it's really weird.
  7. 2021-08-16 14:37 Andrew Rambaut open PDF p.989
I am impressed with myself... would be happy if this one leaked out: [shared file(s): image.png]

But does anyone remember what I was talking about with respect to "reports, but no information, about virus from non-human animals in Wuhan"?
  9. 2021-08-16 14:39 Robert F. Garry open PDF p.989
It was the 99% pangolin virus that turned out to be not 99% IIRC.
  10. 2021-08-16 14:44 Andrew Rambaut open PDF p.989
I am not sure - that wasn't in Wuhan (and we knew it wasn't).
  11. 2021-08-16 14:44 Andrew Rambaut open PDF p.989
Perhaps it was the bags of cats?
  12. 2021-08-16 14:54 Robert F. Garry open PDF p.989
    That could be.
  13. 2021-08-16 15:35 Kristian G. Andersen open PDF p.989
@Andrew Rambaut - where did this leak? And yeah - I think you were talking about cats if I remember correctly our conversations back then.
  14. 2021-08-16 15:37 Andrew Rambaut open PDF p.989
I don't think it has leaked - it was just in Bob's PDF document above.
  15. 2021-08-16 15:37 Andrew Rambaut open PDF p.989
But I am thinking it wouldn't be bad if it did leak. Shows we were discussing all the options at the meeting.
  16. 2021-08-16 15:38 Kristian G. Andersen open PDF p.990
Ah, yes. And that whole email thread is great - lots of good science in there (mostly pointing out that I was wrong inmy initial concerns).
  17. 2021-08-16 15:38 Andrew Rambaut open PDF p.990
And I was the voice of reason amongst you CCP hating nutters.
  18. 2021-08-16 15:38 Andrew Rambaut open PDF p.990
Oh. Hang on you are CCP loving nutters now
  19. 2021-08-16 15:40 Robert F. Garry open PDF p.990
I get emails somewhat along those lines...
  20. 2021-08-16 15:40 Kristian G. Andersen open PDF p.990
Thing is though - we don't want this shit to leak, because they will spin single words into their little narratives.Happened to me a few times - I mean, my while interaction with Fauci is a textbook example of exactly how this works, yet.... Which also reminds me, since I have yet again gotten hacking attacks - I assume everybody have their emails locked down with strong passwords and 2FA? There are emails that we certainly don't want out there because they'll be spun (several identified in Eddie's FOIA come to mind...)
  21. 2021-08-16 15:42 Andrew Rambaut open PDF p.990
Yes - I have changed everything recently.
  22. 2021-08-16 15:43 Edward C. Holmes open PDF p.990
    Me too
  23. 2021-08-16 15:43 Andrew Rambaut open PDF p.990
But you are right - my people are fighting the release of any of my emails on the basis of the demonstrable harm itwill cause
  24. 2021-08-16 15:43 Andrew Rambaut open PDF p.990
I assume it will go to the UK Data Commissioner for final arbitration.
  25. 2021-08-16 15:44 Kristian G. Andersen open PDF p.990
Personal safety very much at risk here - one of us (most likely me...) could very much end up dead in the street from the bullshit that will ensue. Better not to go there.
  26. 2021-08-16 15:46 Andrew Rambaut open PDF p.990
I have mentioned armed guards and rocks being thrown at doors to the lawyers - they instantly agreed that the harmdefence would be a goer.
  27. 2021-08-16 15:46 Andrew Rambaut open PDF p.991
Mentioned without names, I should add
  28. 2021-08-16 15:46 Robert F. Garry open PDF p.991
    Yes - going there: [shared file(s): image.png]
