He's spot on though - it is irresponsible and shameful. I hope they read this.

It absolutely is - equal measure arrogance, ignorance, and naiveté.
As Bill said, "_I hope they enjoyed their day in the sun and one more Science citation on their curricula vitae_". It
won't last.

Totally. The arrogance is breath-taking...we in our tidy offices know better than the WHO who actually went to
Wuhan.

He's also got a fair amount of science in there as well. I like the way he turns the mine story on it's head. Happy to
be "corrected" vis-a-vis the RNA - he's right of course. To Bill's point about animals in your back yard - this little
possum showed up in my back yard tonite - they can carry some bad stuff. [shared file(s): image.png]

Actually I am in a bit of a bind here - I really don't want virological to be a forum for debates about conspiracies as it
is liable to get toxic. I am going to pull Bill's reply whilst I think about it. But really this should be posted to a blog I
think.

@Robert Garry I have moved your posting and Bill's reply to a private area whilst I think about it. I was fine with your
posting because it was noting something about genomes. Bill is much more of a personal taking down - whilst I
agree with it virological is not the place to do it. He should write a letter.

I have moved your posting to a private group which you should all have access to.

!channel Just put the in the virological email "Andrew that's fine with me. I can post my original comment on
Science's eLetters page and then Bill can respond to that. PubPeer is another forum that could be used for a
response to Bloom et al. I also suspect VR's Virology Blog will open up a commentary section on Bloom et al soon.

I think that is a good plan. I support the letter but I don't have the mental energy to have virological as a hub for this.

Alina has an account on virological (from way back) but perhaps she has forgotten.
