I'd be tempted to hold off until the WHO team make some statements because that will take all this to a new level.

Not expecting much, but yes indeed whatever they say will set off noise and fury. Alina/Drastic will probably still be
circling the track taking their victory laps. My guess - we'll also be asked to make some sort of response either by
Nature or Nature Med sometime around the time when the WHO Team makes a response. We should probably be
ready. The above discussion in channel is moving in a productive direction.

BTW that tree above suggests to me that the presence of a FCS Is a pretty normal thing for a betacoronaviruses. 4
of 5 subgeneses have them. The only one that doesn't [yet] probably under sampled.

My guess is that the WHO will either rule out lab escape completely or make vague statements that more data are
required. I suspect this will send Alina et al. into fits of rage rather than victory labs. If they do rule it out completely
the key thing will be if they make clear statements about why they are excluding it

[Robert Garry]
Yeah - I totally agree I meant they would *still* be taking victory labs after the recent op eds in the Telegraph,
WashPost, Fox spews etc. It's what they are doing at the moment, but they'll get fresh life for their virology cosplay
no matter what WHO team does. I'm not particularly hopeful for clear statements. The little short-lived victories of
Alina and DRASTIC in the court of public opinion will eventually be crushed when the actual natural progenitor of
SC2 is inevitably discovered. They can then go back to their soft core megaporn, erotic writing, freezing puppy
heads, etc.

The last thing we need is Brazilians to become dominant.

Re: Broad. Is Alina paid via a research grant? She can't be doing any actual science. Is tax payers money funding
her campaign?
[2021-02-06 17:41:29]
[Kristian Andersen]
Well, you can give her money here. https://giving.broadinstitute.org/alina-chan

I assume federal funding, since that's how most people are paid - e.g., my entire lab. She's with Ben Deverman -
