Bill's posting on virological shows you where the 12 base pairs probably comes from. Not sure it helps with these
people who spin these 'just-so' stories though.

I'm so sick and tired of these "but how do you _really_ know it's not X? What about Y? Oh, but what about Z?".
Either show me the fucking data or fuck off - two fucks to chose from.

I got the same email as well. I never respond to these.

Our communications department declined this one on my behalf and he wrote back saying "Oh, I know you're busy,
but I only have a few short questions [paste everything in from Andrew's email]". Fuck off.

Did you see Jon Cohen's piece in Science: https://www.sciencemag.org/news/2020/05/house-was-fire-top-chinesevirologist-how-china-and-us-have-met-pandemic

Some complete BS answers (they had the sequence by Dec 26/27) but interesting that he says there is a task force
investigating the animal origins.

I fully expect George Gao's team to come up with a paper describing a very closely related virus in species X in fairly
near future. Let's just hope it's close enough to end debate and that they made all the raw read data available.
[2020-05-22 14:34:54]
[Kristian Andersen]
Interesting... No, I did not read that - but will do.
I really do hope a source will come up - would be so much easier and just end this shit show.
[2020-05-22 14:37:14]
[Eddie Holmes]
Completely agree. I so want that to happen.

It's obvious, but the only bits I'm really interested in are the RBD and the cleavage site of the progenitor of
SARS-CoV-2. Yeah would be great. Hopefully not another - we have the 99+% virus cycle of build-up, promise,
anticipation and - then most sadly deflation. WHO is supposedly putting a panel together to "investigate" the origins
as well but I'd hope that the Chinese might have figured out a way to actually find something. I guess if I had to
guess on species X I'd go with bat - pretty good bet.
[2020-05-22 15:06:35]
[Eddie Holmes]
Bob, I'll take your bat and raise you a raccoon dog. Only because they are so weird. I still think there was an
intermediate. I can't see how WHO will be able to do what China can't. It's also the obvious way for China to end all
the conspiracy shit - find a believable natural origin and it's over. Let's watch this space.
