Knocking out two neutralizing epitope would not likely be a good thing for vaccine efficacy. Agree about Oxford/AZN
- just begging for escape.

I really hope it isn't that easy... We'll know soon enough.
Massive-scale epitope mapping really needed.

Indeed - like hiv, ebov and lasv gps cov spike has an impressive glycan shield (>20 per monomer). The chinks
(ie. epitopes) are not going to be numerous.

Preaching to the choir, but need to get away from treating with single monoclonals or combinations that target the
same domain.

@Andrew Rambaut - thanks for taking down the post from Nigeria. I flagged it immediately this morning too with the
team, so they need to get this updated and correct - Paul is working on it.

I made it a private message.

He's working on a new version - need to get the basics right...

Do you know if pangolin assigned it B.1.1.7 or if it was just the presence the mutation that suggested it to them? We
are putting a special bit for pangolin to require 3 of the mutations and no wildtype at these sites to make sure there
are no mis-classifcations. To risky otherwise.

I can't quite figure out if pangolin actually assigned it to that lineage - the question was asked earlier, but no reply yet

[Andrew Rambaut]
It didn't - or rather the latest version doesn't.

OK, thought so. Not really sure what he did...
