Field sites
The Mali ICER maintains several field and clinical research sites in many regions of
Mali, including sites for field testing of candidate vaccines and drug testing. The center
has conducted major studies in Mopti, Koro, Niono, Bandiagara, Bancoumana, Soutuba,
Donegeubougou, Kenieroba, Tienegoubougou, Kambila, Kalifabougou, and
Ouelessebougou.
2. Staff
The current staff consists of close to 140 researchers, administrative staff and support
personnel. All Malian staff is supported through a contract with the USTTB. The Center
also hosts several senior Malian medical/pharmacy students from the Faculty of Medicine
and the Faculty of Pharmacy who are doing hands on research in the center's projects for
their MD and PhD theses, as well as students from neighboring African countries. The
ICER does collaborative research with researchers worldwide. Yearly the center hosts
more than 200 visiting collaborative researchers.
