4 September 2020
Cases are no longer substantially declining due to increasing cases from States
with large Universities -- resurgent in cases in AL and SC and new red COVID
status of high cases and test positivity in |A, SD, OK (slides 25-30) : increased
cases in green states
Declining cases from the summer surge now matched by increases in
communities with residual vacationer returning with virus and university cases
Consistent labor messages are critical to prevent another surge
Fatalities still driven by CA, FL, TX (50%) and now rising in the heartland
The Heartland needs to increase mitigation efforts or will drive hospitalizations
and deaths
Universities need to ensure students are tested, isolated and cared for on campus
or in COVID designated areas to ensure containment and prevent spread both
into local community and to hometowns
Students will isolate if diagnosed : they will not if status is unknown
Next week in person swing : VA, KY, TN, MS, AL, FL, GA, SC (mayors and colleges)
