That's a virus that evolved, that emerged in Europe, I don't remember exactly what year. It moved across Europe and got into Asia and Southeast Asia around 2008 or so. It caused massive pandemics in China, and then eventually it arrived here in the United States in 2012.

Did you do any work on that?
  7. 2026-04-10 09:00 Ralph S. Baric open
We worked with Linda Saif's group to develop a molecular clone for porcine epidemic diarrhea virus.
  8. 2026-04-10 09:00 Christina Salazar open
And did WIV, that you know of, have that, or were they working on that?
  9. 2026-04-10 09:00 Ralph S. Baric open
I would be surprised if they weren't working on it. I don't know if they published on it or not. Linda Saif has swine models, gnotobiotic swine models that she can study viral pathogenesis and vaccine DC.Scheduling@LexitasLegal.com performance. Really her area of expertise. I was glad. I like her a lot. We helped her students develop a molecular clone and then we didn't work on it anymore.
