Interesting A lineage franken variant we just picked up in Jordan - travel associated case from Sudan. Interesting evolutionary stuff going on on the African continent... [shared file(s): Screen Shot 2021-05-04 at 10.51.46.png]

I think we have seen that one in the UK with links to Egypt
-
I think there is a long hidden history which accounts for most of the ORF1ab changes
-
Need to check this against the Tanzania one - quite interesting

"Interesting evolutionary stuff going on on the African continent..." Yes indeed - "interesting evolutionary stuff," "long hidden history," low case loads in SubSaharan Africa, possible large pool of pre-existing (cross-reactive) immunity. Definitely need to sort out what is going on in Africa....

And breathe. It's all going to be ok - the cladists have nailed it: https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.1111/cla.12454

Total techno babble. Love it. I'm convinced. "total evidence analysis under the parsimony optimality criterion". Total Evidence Analysis - I need toremember that one for a future paper.
-
Daniel Janies has spent years trying to do genomic epi only using parsimony and only publishing in Cladisics. It is aweird cult.
-
Must be comforting though: nothing is true until it is demonstrated with cladistics. Means you can ignore 99.99% ofother papers.

Ignoring 99.99% of papers might not be a bad strategy...
