Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but if I'm looking at he sequences correctly all that was done is to fill in 15nucleotides at the 5' end of the RaTG13 genome. Everything else is 100% the same. The ends are the hardest part right? Thats why many "near-complete" genomes are missing nucleotides at the end, for example Bas-Congo virus, and the Ekpomas. Yet, Alina and the DRASTIC krewe are conflating and combining this very minor change toRaTG13 with her perceived "problems" with all the pango sequences. [shared file(s): image.png]

Alina is talking about the pangolin sequences where there's overlap in the data used - as described in Eddie's paper. It's one big nothingburger. I had to unfollow her yesterday - just makes my blood boil listening to this type ofcomplete bull shit.

Yes - seems like Alina's main problem - she got a lot of problems - with is with Xiao et al. Lam et al could not be any more transparent, but Alina likes to cast a wide net. She also had BS about RaTG13, but looks like she took that down. Yeah - the alignments can be posted on Virological - writing some text....

Oh, she still got her BS about RaTG13 on her Twitter - it's just an amateur talking about stuff she does not understand. Sad really - and again, that whole thread yesterday was just completely over the top. Would have madeCinnamon Jesus proud.
