[2021-03-17 20:38:32] [Eddie Holmes] Been pissing me off all day. [2021-03-17 20:40:36] [Kristian Andersen] It's the same old shit recycled over, and over, and over, and over again and again. It's so frustrating. If these idiots would actually take a moment to look at the data themselves instead of grabbing bits from Twitter and shitty news articles. [2021-03-17 20:41:47] [Kristian Andersen] Last time I pointed out one of Jesse's flaws (about "RaTG13 being dodgy") he said - oh, I haven't tried to assemble the genome myself yet... Well, before you accuse other people of scientific misconduct, it might be good to do the bare minimum first. [2021-03-17 20:44:30] [Eddie Holmes] I hear you. Well let's remind him about this when the WHO report comes out. [2021-03-18 21:47:34] [Eddie Holmes] I dunno, I seem to be getting angrier by the data. Alina is signing off saying that she is getting abuse and yet she is the one response for this and has made the worse claims. Makes my blood boil. [2021-03-18 23:34:54] [Robert Garry] Total agreement here - it's frustrating in the moment, but a long game. FWIW I think fair game to take gloves off with Alina and Jesse for that matter- call conspiracy theories what they are {but - of course- back that up with science - they'll hate that]. IMO after sorting thru the bias and BS the undark article (plus the updates] expose Alina as the crank she is. [2021-03-19 02:01:15] [Eddie Holmes] I just saw that Jesse follows Gilles Demaneuf who is confirmed conspiracy theorist and who has 'published' with Billy. Says it all. [2021-03-19 06:12:55] [Kristian Andersen] Not just that - he's _using_ tweets from these conspiracy theorists as evidence to bolster his arguments: https://twitter.com/jbloom_lab/status/1372383457108627457?s=20. [2021-03-19 06:15:16] [Kristian Andersen] ... and of course, the 'data' shown in those tweets are meaningless - they're SARS-like viruses, already published (before the pandemic) and are very far from SARS-CoV-2. Totally meaningless (as expected) - Jesse really should know that if he took a quick glance and the data or trees. But maybe he doesn't know how to interpret the data or he didn't bother to take a look. (or both...) [2021-03-19 06:20:05] [Kristian Andersen] https://www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/2021.03.18.436013v1 (I have previously mentioned that VOCs may have originated in non-human species - and I have mentioned mice specifically - however, I find that pretty unlikely. This is intriguing though....) [2021-03-19 08:15:14]
