Thanks Best Regard, [2020-09-08 05:06:09] [Andrew Rambaut] I got this email too. [2020-09-08 05:09:34] [Robert Garry] the "paper" is pretty lame... [2020-09-08 06:54:08] [Kristian Andersen] Same - and my whole lab got the email as well... [2020-09-08 08:17:40] [Robert Garry] At least Deep Throat is staying under his/her rock for the moment. My worry with Alina et al. is for a "Butterfly Effect" whereby the presidential race comes down to a few votes in the Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Michigan and/or Minnesota and Trump's "leadership" on the origins of the Wuhan Flu origins sways a handful of voters delivering him the Electoral College. If that happens my wife and I will be heading out.... [2020-09-08 13:55:13] [Eddie Holmes] But I thought we were censoring all these papers? How did this one sneak through? Darn. [2020-09-09 08:17:51] [Robert Garry] Attached please find a formal request for retraction of the Nature Medicine article, "The proximal origin of SARS-CoV-2." Representatives of Nature Medicine, the Springer Group, the authors and their associated institutions, and relevant medical journal affiliates have been copied in this request. To avoid a cascade of confusing replies, BCC has been utilized. Replies to me are welcome, but not required. The retraction request should speak for itself. Because the article may be tied to USG grants (NIH grant U19AI135995, U19AI135995, U54 HG007480 and U19AI142790), HHS and NIH have been copied to assist with final integrity. Where no clear ethics boards or oversight boards were available, the leadership teams of respective institutions were selected. A complete list of recipients may be made available upon request.
