We have a few follow-up questions: « How much flexibility do you have in the programming? We'd be working with a pretty tight time frame. I noticed that you listed the lunch as optional. Would the meet/greet/book-signing time also be negotiable, if we were able to make this work? Do authors ever pre-sign books for Big Read participants instead? « How many people typically attend your book talks? And what's the typical book buy size? « Would 6/23 in the afternoon work for timing? I know you mentioned you have some flexibility. Thanks in advance for your thoughts on these questions. All the best, Emily From: Collins, Francis (NIH/OD) [E] [@od.nih.gov> Sent: Thursday, February 20, 2020 3:36 AM To: Emily Libresco pivotalventures.org> Ce: Courtney Wade pivotalventures.org>; n/© gatesfoundation.org; Roberts, Jacqueline (NIH/OD) [E] iod.nih.gov> Subject: RE: NIH Director hoping to bring you and your book to NIH Dear Emily, Thanks for your follow up note. I am delighted to know that this invitation is under consideration. Attached please find a more detailed description of the NIH Big Read program, and a possible draft agenda for what the visit might look like (though that is entirely open to revision, depending on how Melinda would most like to spend her time at NIH). A June visit would be just fine. Looking at calendars, June 19 and 22 would work particularly well, but there are lots of other options. Just let me know what would work best for Melinda. We are truly excited at the possibility of being able to host Melinda for this year's Big Read. She would have the chance to inspire many scientists, from young trainees to senior leaders, both women and men.
