Vr Gus PRESS: MSNBC "Morning Joe" with Joe Scarborough; WTOP Radio; July 1, 2021 It is becoming very clear that the extreme far right in the press with Fox News, in social media but the far right crazies, and especially in the Congress with the senators and congressmen who are frightened of former president Trump and who are using attacks on me to show their loyalty to Trump. The issue that they are focusing on mostly in recent days is saying that I perjured myself in front of the House and Energy Subcommittee Hearing by saying I did not know why we were asked to cancel the Wuhan subgrant. In fact, I had checked with Francis Collins and Larry Tabak just to be sure , and there is no doubt that we were told by the White House to cancel the grant and not ask any questions about it. When we said that we had to have a specific reason for canceling the grant since it would be illegal for us to cancel it without a specific reason , the word came down from the White House predominantly via Mark Meadows that we should just go ahead and make up a reason but we definitely had to cancel the grant or else. The general counsel of HHS under Bob Charrow agreed that we had no specific reason to cancel the grant and so we had to reinstitute the grant but withhold funding until they met certain conditions which would be very difficult for them to meet anyway. It really was a work around to prevent us from funding the grant. Therefore, I was completely honest in saying that I did not know why the grant was asked to be cancelled since they never gave us a specific reason to do so. The pressure on me is extreme!!! They "bad guys" are taking everything I say and quoting it out of context. Really trying to destroy my credibility. Cases starting to go up a bit in the unvaccinated areas. Must watch closely
