Important situation evolved today. White House (meadows) clais that
Washington Post (Dawsey) told him that I initiated the interview from Friday.
NOIT SO!!! E-mail below is self-explanatory:
Brian:
As per our recent telephone conversation, let me summarize. Francis Collins
called me this afternoon after his regularly scheduled meeting with the
Secretary. Apparently, the Secretary is under the impression (someone related
this to him) that I initiated the interview with the Washington Post that is now so
controversial. That is categorically incorrect and I have proof of that. The e-mail
below indicate that the reporter Josh Dawsey reached out to me for an
interview (e-mail below dated October 29, 2020 at 11:48 AM). I did what I
always do and requested clearance. The e-mails below show that this occurred
and I was cleared to speak with him. I would like very much to clear up this
misunderstanding that I reached out to the reporter, which I absolutely did
not. Please read the e-mail chain from bottom up. Many thanks.
Best regards,
Tony
