Ory Movie Aviiape 30 October 2020 Test positivity rates continue to rise dramatically across the country - the weekly number of tests performed is flat Cases are rising in nearly 30% of all USA counties the highest number of county hotspots we have seen Hospitalizations are rising in all state categories (red, orange, yellow, light green) except for dark green states at this time -- we are seeing record numbers of new admissions week over week in all age categories except under 18 Fatality rates in people over 70 remains at 11%. Increased access to novel therapeutics will be needed toa change this, Every state that is coolingis seeing increases in cases -- including now NY. NJ, PA Slide S shows there is no improvement in any state except 2-3. Cases will continue to hit all time highs week over week because the core mitigation efforts and targeted testing for asymptomatic infection are not occurring resulting in continued and escalating community spread leading to increasing hospitalizations and fatalities, States have developed testing systems and contact tracing for symptomatic clients that may account for less than 50% of the community spread as sick individuals have less activity in the community. Those with such mild symptoms or asymptomatic remain in the community for their full infectious period accounting for more of the community spread. Strategic use of the Ag tests will be critical to contral the current surge. These mild and asymptomatic cases will require both sentinel surveillance of community populations (community college students, major industries, K-12 teachers etc) as well as routine testing of under 40 yo to find and isolate these contagious individuals, The sequence of events must stop with the initial silent spread with aggressive sentinel surveillance testing, Aggressive testing of the contagious but asymptomatic population with isolation effectively contained and mitigated spread prior to infection of the more vulnerable community members. Routine testing will be essential in multigenerational households especially in our Tribal Nations.
