POTUS called me up from his hospital room at Walter Reed. 1:08 PM. He rambled on about the suite he was in and how expensive it was to build it. Says it is better than the White House. Asked me if I have ever been there. I told him about the time I went there to help in the treatment of President Nixon's pneumonia. He then commented on my voice and my successful vocal cord surgery. He then described his therapies (Remdesivir, mAB (Regeneron) and Dexamethasone). He praised Len Schleifer and now the real reason he called. He said that he was very sick when he came into the hospital and "felt like fucking shit", However, a few hours after receiving the Regeneron mAB, he felt better than he has felt in years (I believe that DEX is contributing to this as well as to his obvious hyperkinetic state). Bottom line is that he wants me to get the Regeneron mAb out as an EUA. I explained that the mAb was in clinical trials. He said the most important clinical trial has been done - i.e. on him the POTUS. That is all we need to know. He wants me to get back to him and get it out to millions of people. He said it was not about the election, it was about saving lives. I told him that it was an FDA regulatory issue. He then said that they would listen to me. He said he was aware of the Lilly mAB,but thinkgs that Regeneron is better (Len probably told him so). POTUS then said get both Reg and Lilly an EUA. We are obviously going to have a problem since there is not enough data for an EUA. Mark Meadows called me about what the appropriate PPE would be for others to wear around the POTUS when the POTUS returns (today) to the WH. Also, he wanted my opinion of what PPE the Senators who are infected or who will be infected should wear when they vote for ACA and Supreme Court justice confirmation.
