1.This week's low in deaths is nearly 200 more than the last 2 week lows 350-440 range to now 650
2.As we learned in May and June emergency room visits are a lagging indicator
-- often more than a week behind increases in
test positivity
3.Cases and deaths both increasing this week -- the considerable progress is stalling or reversing in the large states -- slides 4-5
4. Historically first test positivity increases, followed by increased cases, increased IL! and CLI, new hospitalizations and deaths
5. There is increased community spread occurring at the same time as increased cases in Universities and working to separate
these two different issues
6.New serology surveillance data shows 90% of Americans have not been infected (do not have any COVID Ab --a small % Of
those infected can only have T cell immunity (5-10% of those infected so it could be 88-89% rather than 90%) in many areas
95% uninfected - the one except is NY especially the NYC metro area where nearly 22-25% were infected
Actions:
*
Working with Brad and Brett to prioritize BINAX to communities surrounding colleges with >15K students on campus and
greater than 1500 recorded cases in students.
*
Working with Universities to ensure students remain on campus and are not sent home if the university goes online once
students have returned to campus
+
Will work with governors to ensure that understand the importance of asymptomatic testing and contact tracing for
containment and preventing spread to vulnerable citizens in their communities
