and I explained that I could not do this since my colleagues would say (and so
would I) that I am seting ovrer the line. I explained to Marc the aversion
scientists (of any political persuasion) have for politicizing science. He
understood completely and we wen back inot the room and I told the VP the same
thing and he wa very supportive. Deb and Bob were clearly not happy with what
I did, likely because they also felt uncomformtable, but had no choice since they
are political appointees. Such is life. I made the correct decision.
