into, among other matters, risky life sciences research and the origins of the COVID-19 virus; Whereas, pursuant to rule XXVI of the Standing Rules of the Senate, section 12 of Senate Resolution 94 (119th Congress), agreed to February 27, 2025, and rule 5C of the Rules of Procedure of the Committee, on June 22, 2026, the Committee issued a subpoena directing Dr. Anthony S. Fauci to testify before the Committee on July 29, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. in 342 Dirksen Senate Office Building; Whereas, in a letter from Committee Chairman Rand Paul accompanying the subpoena, Dr. Fauci was instructed that he was ''to provide testimony concerning matters under consideration by the Committee, including the origins of COVID-19, risky life sciences research, and your tenure as a Federal government employee''; Whereas, on July 17, 2026, the Committee issued a revised subpoena directing Dr. Fauci to testify before the Committee on July 29, 2026, at 8:30 a.m. in 342 Dirksen Senate Office Building; Whereas, on July 29, 2026, Dr. Fauci appeared before the Committee and delivered prepared testimony discussing his tenure as a Federal Government employee, prior testimony to Congress, and records released by the Committee as part of its investigation; Whereas Dr. Fauci concluded his prepared testimony by stating his intent to refuse to answer questions posed by the Committee, citing the right against self-incrimination under the Fifth Amendment to the Constitution of the United States;
