Subject: RE: Need info on BMGF -- Urgent
Hi Larry,
In reviewing the spreadsheet and links, here are two additions:
« As Francis notes, NCI and the Gates Foundation are cost-sharing an HPV vaccine post licensure trial to find out if
giving only one dose of either the Cervarix or Gardasil 9 vaccines work the same as giving two doses of these
vaccines to young women - The ESCUDDO Study. The Gates Foundation commitment is $20 million.
«
NIH and the Gates Foundation also are co-supporting an African Post-Doctoral Training Initiative (APTI) within the
intramural program. The Gates Foundation commitment over six years is $2 million. The NIH commitment over
that timeframe is $2.2 million
I'm unsure if the attached document would be useful to you, given the nature of the request, but if so, attached is a
sampling of recent highlights/developments in the NIH-Gates cooperation, including the HIV vaccine cooperation
