Sept. 8, 2022 I was supposed to be with the President today in the Roosevelt room of The West Wing for his announcement about how we are going to approach the upcoming full season with regard to our response to COVID. This relates to the new message of trying to get updated COVID vaccines (in this case BA.5 bivalent) to be given on an annual basis similar to the flu. However, sadly, Queen Elizabeth passed away within minutes of the scheduled press briefing and so we called it off and we will reschedule. He is a great resource within the medical world. Why has he become such a polarizing figure during the COVID-19 pandemic? The featured people at the dinner who were Jimmy Page (Creator and lead guitarist of Led Zeppelin) and his wife poet Scarlett Sabet who sat at my table. Jimmy and Scarlett were absolutely wonderful and people and creative artists. Jimmy now collaborates with Scarlet on making albums of her recited poems.

Ron DeSantis than insulting comments Bruce Stechmiller and more than 30 others Guest columnists Statement made during the last NIAID Council meeting of mine as NIAID Director: On behalf of the AIDS Research Advisory Committee, ARAC, I want to take a moment to reflect, as we open the September 2022 meeting, which will be the last ARAC meeting under the NIAID leadership of Dr. Anthony Fauci. As you all know, Dr. Fauci has led NIAID since 1984, and it is impossible to capture the enormity of his contributions. His extraordinary leadership of NIAID, and through it the Division of AIDS, has been unparalleled. His ability to see the world, and make it better, has been astonishing: from the most fundamental scientific questions, to the most difficult clinical problems of our lifetimes, to the many public health challenges the world has faced over the past 40 years, in HIV and so many infectious and other diseases. These efforts have had profound and life-saving effects, on individuals, communities, and the entire world. We thank him, on behalf of people everywhere, and we look forward to what will no doubt be continued extraordinary accomplishments as he opens a new chapter. Thank you Dr. Anthony ('Tony') Fauci.
