June 18, 2022 FDA gives EUA to Moderna and Pfizer for vaccines for children 6 months to 5 years old. CDC recommends! I'm really starting to feel the depression and sadness that I will be missing Megan's wedding today in NOLA where I would have been with my entire family had I not contracted COVID. I viewed the ceremony buy live stream as well as interacting with people during the reception and the picture taking via FaceTime .Will Fekeci and Sam provided the face timing for me. The usual stuff is going on regarding my infection with Tucker Carlson doing A5 or 10 minute discussion tearing me down but the usual accusations and belittling the people who are supporting me. What a total asshole!! I just finished Yasmeen Abutaleb's and Damian Paletta's book "Nightmare Scenario". They did a very good job and I should use that book heavily as a reference in my own upcoming book. PRESS: - > Gov. DeSantis not recommending vaccines for children 6 months to 5 years: washingtonpost.com Gov. Ron DeSantis abandons Florida children Editorial Board But Mr. DeSantis appears to relish playing politics with public health. He is running for reelection and has his eye on a Republican presidential campaign. His decisions and comments are a craven bid for support from the anti-vaccine movement. We've seen this before. Mr. DeSantis also fought vaccine and mask mandates. His campaign sells "Freedom over Fauci" flip-flops that leave a message when worn on the beach: "Fauci can pound sand."

June 20 2022 Tested negative today and have had an essentially asymptomatic course. Began reading Deb Birx's book "Silent Invasion" and it is clear already from the first couple of chapters that she is revising history regarding her initial involvement. I am sure that part of it is true but it wants me to be careful that I have to be strict to the truth of exactly what happened and not pad it in my favor Important discussions today by phone with me and separately David Kessler, Larry Horowitz, Richard Koup and Peter Marks regarding what the ultimate choice for the booster vaccine for the upcoming fall surge. I have been very concerned of late that we are not carefully analyzing the immunological basis for the choice of a booster shot to be administered before the potentially upcoming Fall surge. The companies Pfizer and Moderna apparently want to give a bivalent of wildtype plus omicron since that is what they already seem committed to and are making. It is my opinion that by the time we get to the fall season omicron will be completely gone and off the map since it is already gone. The closest thing that we likely would see would be a surge of BA4/5. Yet everything seems to be pointing to the decision of in the next doing an omicron/wildtype bivalent. Peter Marks who will make the ultimate decision at the FDA agrees with me that we will be fighting yesterday's war if we go with omicron. There will be many discussions this week that I will catalyze to make sure that we get all the appropriate information for the FDA to make a good decision about the booster.
