Press slamming them for thisand Rochelle and I are being asked about this on every media hit. Had very good discussion with Dr. Soren Brostrom, Director General of the Danish Health Authority Danish representative on the WHO Executive Board AND Lone Dencker Wisborg, Danish Ambassador to USA on Global Health matters and potential collaboration between USA and Denmark in global health security and pandemic preparedness. Also met with Congressman Espaillat regarding variant B.1.526 in his district in NYC. Had back and forth with Jeff and Rochelle regarding the guidelines that CDC is preparing on what people who are vaccinated can and cannot do. Jeff Wants to make sure that I am comfortable with the guidelines. I looked at them in the usual manner the CDC had too many qualifying statements in there that were necessary. Jeff had a problem with putting a vaccinated person in the same room with a person who is not vaccinated and not using masks. I convinced him that we should assume the very small risk and if the person who is not vaccinated is of low risk, then one does not have to wear a mask. Jeff was very sensitive in not having the White House interfere and so he went along with my suggestion that actually agreed with the CDC, except for the fact that they were not precise in their wording can I edited their document some what. The bottom line is that we would say that two vaccinated people can be indoors together in a home setting without masks or physical distancing. If the person who was not vaccinated is of high risk of severe disease then the vaccinated person needs to wear a mask. She is in a very difficult situation in that she was promised vaccine from CoVAX; however, they have not come through on their promise. Therefore, she is asking me as a trusted person for suggestions on how she might address the outbreak in her own country. As of February 22, 2021 there have been 128,000 cases and 5000 deaths in Bosnia and Herzegovina. I could not help her very much except to encourage her to have her people continue to wear masks and observe appropriate public health measures. I also suggested to her that she tried to make a deal with the Russians to try to get some of their vaccine. I also suggested that are possible long range solutions to try and get some of the surplus vaccine that would be left over after the USA vaccinated its entire population. China All viruses mutate, and the SARS-CoV-2 virus is no exception. This means variations in the viral genome occur when the virus replicates; over time, these mutations may get passed along as the virus is transmitted from person to person. Scientists have identified multiple prominent variants of SARS-CoV-2 that are now circulating around the world. How well COVID-19 vaccines protect against emerging variants is a vital question. Vaccines that have been tested more recently, and in places where new variants are circulating widely, offer some answers. For example, the J&J vaccine was found to be 57 percent effective against moderate to severe disease caused by the variant first identified in South Africa (and 66 percent effective against all variant encountered during Ph.3 testing), while the AstraZeneca-Oxford vaccine did not protect clinical trial volunteers from mild or moderate illness against this same variant.
