Will be race between the new variants and our two tools of defense: 1) vaccine; 2) public health measures. Luckily the mRNA vaccines and J & J are good against the B.117 (UK). Even though they are less effective against the B1.531 (RSA) isolate they still likely will protect against hospitalization and death - the J & J definitely does (tested in RSA) and we can extrapolate that the mRNA (not yet tested in RSA) also does. February 23, 2021 - Global -111,400,000/2,500,000; USA - 28,000,000/500,000 Had great call with Barbra Streisand. She called my cell at 6:05 PM. She has recently had zoster with lesion on hip/buttock. She has post-zoster neuralgia down her leg, but the primary lesion had healed. She wanted to know if it was OK to get the mRNA vaccine. I told her yes. We then stared discussing life in general. I told her that I work listening to her songs on ALEXA. She really did not know what ALEXA was. I accidentally butt called her later in the evening and she said that she was going to call me anyway since she wanted to know if there was any difference between the Moderna and the Pfizer product. I told her none. I then explained to her more about ALEXA. I brought the phone over to ALEXA and asked to play "Songs by Barbra Streisand".
