Getting nervous about throwing out the first ball at Nats stadium tonight in the Opening Day ceremony of Nats versus Yankees game. Amazing night at NATS Stradium where I threw out the first pitch to open the 2020 Baseball season with Nats - NY Yankees game. Unfortunately, I threw a "bouncer" to the right of the plate. I felt really badly but the overwhelming public reaction to it was sympathetic and positive. Mark Lerner (owner of Nats) had me sign dozens of baseballs to be given out to people and one that will go into the Baseball Hall of Fame together with 2 Louisville Slugger bats. I signed a Nats Jersey that will hang on the wall in Nats stadium next to a similar shirt signed by President Obama. Game got rained out in the 6th inning and we went home. Yankees were leading 4-1. July 25, 2020 - Global USA Texas now have to triage who gets into intensieve and who does not (too far gone and/or too old. Very difficult situation. California takes over from NY as state with the most cases. Florida still surging. Deaths in the USA up to 1000/day for 4th day in a row. They have created a baseball card with a photo of me throwing out the first pitch. Judy Mikovits is planning to be on conspiracy TV shows via Sinclair news network saying that Fauci created the coronavirus in China and brought it to the USA Over the past week POTUS has done 3 press conferences alone. I have commented to the press that I think that this is good since he is now giving a sober message that things will get worse before they get better and that people should wear masks and avoid crowds. He has cancelled the GOP Convention in Jacksonville Florida. I commented 200,000/147,000 that I liked the fact that the pressers were short and concise. CNN sarcastically commented that I really giving a vailed criticism of his prior pressers.

July 26, 2020 (Sunday) - 5th Day in a row for 1000 deaths/day. Brett Giroir on Tapper (State of the Union) talking bullshit about testing with Jake pressing him. I gave Jake some questions to ask him. Mark Meadows on This Week with George Stephanopoulos saying that public health measures are not working and we will have to rely on interventions such as vaccines and therapeutics. This is his way of backing out of a failure and trying to get an "October Surprise". Heads up for him trying to push an early approval of vaccine or even influencing the decision about convalescent sera, which actually do not look too good right now. Spent better part of yesterday and this AM working out the tension between the COVPN sites, Larry Corey and Moderna. Larry acting out since he is angry that Moderna and perhaps AstraZeneca are going with CROs instead of the COVPN sites. Larry understandably feels left out and disrespected. He has a point but he is poisoning the relationship with the companies, which is a bad idea since like it or not, we (Operation Warp Speed - OWS) allowed the company instead of NIH to hold the IND and so it is their trial. Larry hostility spilled over to the site PIs and they leaked to the press disparaging things about Moderna, which set off a media pickup, etc. I called Larry, then set up a Zoom yesterday with Moncef Slaoui, Matt Herpburn, John Macola to figure out how to fix this. I volunteered to convince Larry that he is inadvertently becoming the "problem". Zoom call today with Larry and the above 4 to come to some sort of understanding: Larry and COVPNs would not be left out of the action, but Larry must stop criticizing the Company. Tomorrow we have Zoom with all of us + the COVPN PIs. Jake Tapper woke me up at 11:23 AM (I went to bed early) furius at POTUS for tweeting about the fact that Jake severly questioned Brett Giroir on SOTU CNN show today. Jake was really pissed at the craziness of it all.

Fastest ever in the USA from sequence to phase 1 and fro sequence to now phase 3 We had in Building 1 a virtual press conference at 10:00 AM with me, Francis Collins, Matt Hepburn, and Stefan Bancel announcing the start of the Phase 1 trial. Met with the POTUS in the Oval Office today briefing him (with Azar, Collins, Gen. Perna, Moncef, Jared Kushner) about therapeutics and vaccines. He was typical stream Global USA of consciousness and rambling on. It is clear he wants therapeutics quickly. He accepted that the vaccine might not be ready before the election, but he was not happy about it. He kept pushing about when therapy would be ready. Francis and I were surprised when some of the WH staff sitting behind us told him that the convalescent plasma data looked real good and we would have definitive results tomorrow. Had no idea what they were talking about since we know that the plasma data are a mess and we are bringing in statisticians (independent) to look at the data. The baseball card of my opening day pitch by Todd has broken the all time record for sales with 51,512 print sales in just 24 hours. Craziness continues. July 28, 2020 - Global USA On GMA, George Stephanopoulos brought up that the POTUS has retweeted a tweet from a Breitbart based group that said that I was misleading the American public and thsat I was a fraud. George asked me to respond and I blew it off saying that I do not tweet or even read tweets. After the interview, George texted me saying: "Thank you, Tony. So impressive". The POTUS is playing a weird game of acting Okay with me in person and saying that our relationship is fine to the press and then retweeting stuff that attacks me. He is a very strange guy. Task Force meeting today. Continued surge in Florida. Threats now to yellow states of Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana, and others sine they are seeing increases in percent positives of their tests. He really stepped in it yesterday when he endorsed a group of whacko doctors who said that 400,000/151,000 Hydroxychloroquine cures COVID-19. Woman (African) doctor named Stella Immanuel who beiieves in alien DNA and demon sperm said you do not need masks and HC cures COVID-19. Trump not resally knowing much about her, endorses her because she pushed HC. Don Lemon (CNN) on his show last night crucified Trump for this. Again the narrative continues of me versus Trump. CNN and the media in general are having a field day with this and hammering Trump. Steve and Mark told Nancy and Chuck that AstraZeneca will have vaccine in September and that it will be given an EUA. Theyare talking about the ChADOX vaccine that Adrian Hill is testing in Brazil and South Africa, It is a 10,000 person trial. Apparently, Peter Marks does not know anything about this and Larry just informed him. Bottom line is that they are going to pressure Steve Han (who likely will cave in in the idea of an EUA) to issue one even though Peter has serius issues with this. An EUA will likely get in the way of completing the RCTs that are going on. Clearly. This is politically driven and will be a ploy for Trump to get reelected.
