I told him we writing a letter but that we didn't want the WHO team to be involved: "It continues to annoy me when people say that WHO/OIE/FAO aren't 'independent' but letter writers (15/18 of which are from the US) are 'independent'. Sure WHO/OIE/FAO (and add in the UN/UNICEF etc) have their big problems, but what other international groups are there? We in the WHO group may write a piece later about the political/moral/racist/ill-informed/un-evidenced conspiratorial attitudes that surrounded trying to do this work."
