https://www.indiatvnews.com/news/world/china-coronavirus-detected-large-quantity-of-wuhan-seafood-market-5833 12 Here's the money shot: "Thirty-one of the 33 positive samples were collected from the western zone of the market, where booths of wildlife trading concentrated. The result suggests that the novel coronavirus outbreak is highly relevant to the trading of the wild animals, experts said. The successful isolation of the novel coronavirus further substantiates that the Huanan Seafood Wholesale Market contains a large quantity of the novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV), according to the experts."

Has anybody sequenced a genome from an environmental sample not from the market? E.g., from a home of somebody infected with SARS-CoV-2? If no, then that's pretty darn key - and it's been in front of us all this time...

GSAID has 398 samples from the environment - so it can be done. Haven't looked carefully [and the server is shutdown now] but most appear to be from waste water, which means that they are concentrating the samples a lot. Others from patient rooms which is not the same thing as an random patient walking through the market.

The patient room samples are the key ones - yeah, sewage - while pretty hard - can be done. I'll take a look thisafternoon too - and ask Rob Knight who's been doing a lot of this stuff

I'd like to know if that map of the Huanan market is reliable. Same map that PD is folding up? ASssuming the red are the positive stalls - Seems to line up with other reporting and what George G said initially.
