Tony: Buller never told Program about his cowpox-IL4 work with Jahrling until last week. Consequently contract funding approval was neither sought nor received. Jahrling did not fund his work. He has a grant with us which is not for this work either. By default, contract resources were used for the work. Apparently he viewed this as an extension of his work with ectromelia Effective tomorrow morning, the Virology Branch will have initiated a documented standard approval process for contract expenditure on any study under the animal model contracts. Appropriate technical review of concepts is under discussion. ee ee ewe Pamela
