# Transcript

**[2021-02-08T11:36:30] Edward C. Holmes:** Yup, could be. Just got another invite from Cara...how timely

**[2021-02-08T12:15:43] Andrew Rambaut:** Just spotted this on BBC [shared file(s): Image from iOS.jpg]

**[2021-02-08T12:16:17] Andrew Rambaut:** The sinister puppet master in the shadows

**[2021-02-08T12:16:46] Kristian G. Andersen:** Old news man, old news.

**[2021-02-08T12:18:44] Edward C. Holmes:** If they do find seropositive animal samples how long before the first 'they spiked the samples' tweets from Boston?

**[2021-02-08T12:31:40] Robert F. Garry:** Just listened to some of the Alina podcast. She's vacuous, but also cleverly evasive. I am coming around [OK I'm already at] to Andrew's point that they really need to be boxed into a corner and made to come up with somespecifics. Most important is that you need a very close relative (99% or better) to get to SARS-CoV-2 by any sort ofGOF research. Also blow up the notion that lab origins is not a conspiracy theory. It is.

**[2021-02-08T12:39:11] Robert F. Garry:** The Puppet Master was one of the first supervillains faced by the the Fantastic Four. I remember it well back in1963.... No resemblance to Eddie

**[2021-02-08T12:39:37] Robert F. Garry:** Maybe a little? [shared file(s): image.png]

**[2021-02-08T12:41:45] Edward C. Holmes:** Oh, I'm going to be using that!

**[2021-02-08T12:42:43] Edward C. Holmes:** Linfa's paper that is out in Nat Comms tomorrow... keep in conference [shared file(s): Nat Comm_Author Proof-LW210208.pdf]

**[2021-02-08T12:52:41] Kristian G. Andersen:** Only read the abstract, but definitely interesting paper.

**[2021-02-08T12:54:02] Edward C. Holmes:** Thai pangolin

**[2021-02-08T13:06:23] Robert F. Garry:** Yeah it's the ACE2 - blockade of binding assaY [ACE2BOB] -

**[2021-02-08T13:06:57] Robert F. Garry:** Can add the full reference to the virological post - full credit for a nice work.

**[2021-02-08T13:08:41] Robert F. Garry:** @Eddie Holmes Let me see if I can find a better one...

**[2021-02-08T13:09:22] Robert F. Garry:** I dunno - I'm just not seeing it... [shared file(s): image.png] M- but close enough!

**[2021-02-08T13:15:42] Robert F. Garry:** @Kristian Andersen should have warned you better.

**[2021-02-08T13:29:50] Kristian G. Andersen:** Never. I want people to peel this onion themselves...

**[2021-02-08T14:02:20] Andrew Rambaut:** @Robert Garry There's Cara with some bags of money...

**[2021-02-08T14:36:20] Robert F. Garry:** @Robert Garry I think they meant n- but close enough!

**[2021-02-08T15:17:44] Robert F. Garry:** @Robert Garry And of course they never quite look like their pictures...

**[2021-02-08T16:00:55] Kristian G. Andersen:** :joy: [shared file(s): Screen Shot 2021-02-08 at 4.00.00 PM.png]

**[2021-02-08T16:07:11] Edward C. Holmes:** Tough choice there Kristian

**[2021-02-08T16:08:23] Kristian G. Andersen:** Tough indeed - by rejecting his request, I might miss a chance for obtaining eternal life.
